Still Celebratin’ Mama (Because One Day Ain’t Enough)

TOGETHER WITH

SBC! ☀️ Mother’s Day was yesterday, but let’s be honest — one day isn’t near enough for all mamas do. So, we’re stretching the celebration like leftovers after Sunday dinner.
🌻Whether you brought her flowers, made her laugh, held her dear in your heart, or just managed not to call her during her nap, we hope it was a sweet one.
In this special mom edition, we’re shining light on:
Moms on a Mission + Mental Health Awareness month
Boss Moms (literally)

Partnered with Moms on a Mission
Empowering Grieving Families through Healing and Hope
Founded in 2022 by mom and entrepreneur Martha E. Tyler, Moms on a Mission 318 is a Shreveport-based nonprofit on a mission to uplift the community through love, healing, and hands-on support. The organization currently stands beside more than 75 mothers who have lost a child to gun violence — offering them comfort, resources, and the strength of sisterhood.
But the mission doesn’t stop there. From youth mentorship and life skills training to upcoming initiatives focused on senior wellness, Moms on a Mission is deeply committed to building a stronger, more compassionate community.
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Moms on a Mission 318 is co-hosting a special community event:

💸 Big Giving, Big Impact: Over $2.5M Raised for Local Nonprofits!

Give for Good 2025 was a record-breaking celebration of generosity, raising $2,535,735 (Did you read that right? Yes, you did.) for 222 North Louisiana nonprofits! Organized by the Community Foundation of North Louisiana, this annual online giving day drew 8,708 gifts from 4,207 donors, proving once again how powerful our community can be when we come together.
From healthcare to the arts, these donations support a wide range of services—plus, each gift was boosted by the Lagniappe Fund, a matching bonus pool.
“Give for Good is the most important philanthropic day of the year,” said Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux.

✈️ Shreveport Lands Major Win!
SkyWest Airlines is bringing a new maintenance base to Shreveport Regional Airport, creating 150 high-paying jobs and over 500 total regional opportunities. With an average salary of $70,000, this is a big boost for local workers and our economy. The facility is expected to open by late 2025, thanks to teamwork from NLEP, LED, SWEPCO, and more. Local programs like SUSLA and Barksdale are expected to help fill these roles—proving Shreveport’s ready for takeoff! 🌟
🏆 Title Town: Local Girls Teams Bring Home State Championships
North Louisiana’s student-athletes just made history—3 powerhouse girls’ teams are bringing home state titles!
🥎 The North DeSoto Lady Griffins are the 2025 Division II Non-Select State Champions, defeating Assumption 6-5 in a nail-biter.

🏆 Calvary Baptist Academy claimed its fifth straight softball championship, shutting out D’Arbonne Woods 12-0. This win was extra meaningful as the team honored their late teammate Elena Franks (#25) with the heartfelt motto “5 for 25.”

⛳ The Benton Girls Golf Team captured their second straight title, finishing 5-under-par as a team. Grace Goodwin placed 2nd individually, and Abigail McWilliams came in 3rd—beating runner-up Barbe High by 16 strokes!

From the field to the fairway, these girls showed the heart, hustle, and hometown pride it takes to be champions! 💪 Great job athletes!
