Meet Your Neighbor
🔆 Local Spotlight: Erica Davidson 🔆

Erica is 3rd from the left! :)

Erica’s story is one of faith, compassion, and answered prayers. Having grown up in poverty and a chaotic home, she understands the deep challenges that come with feeling like opportunities are out of reach. She remembers sitting in her office years ago, heartbroken by the violence and loss happening in Shreveport, praying for God to show her how to help. From that moment, doors began to open, leading her straight to The Hub: Urban Ministries.

Through her work with The Hub, Erica found a place where her love for people and her passion for restoration came together. She believes that every person bears God’s image and deserves dignity, hope, and the chance to be seen and cared for. That belief has guided her as she’s poured her heart into serving others and meeting them right where they are.

Here’s how you can help! 💪

Join The Great Food Fight to help The Hub bring hope and dignity to people in need across our community. Every dollar supports meals, outreach, and life-changing programs. Donate through the link below and help me in this friendly competition to raise the most for The Hub!

☀️ This Week’s Happy Highlights

LEGO, Magic, and a Feast to Remember! 🍗

Geaux BUILD Louisiana, led by Cade Worley, brings LEGO play, STEAM learning, and creative therapy to Shreveport. On October 24, we proudly sponsored their “Geaux To Hogwarts Halloween Feast” at 700 E Texas St. Guests enjoyed a four-course feast, LEGO Hogwarts building, house sorting, potions, crafts, vendors, and a costume contest. Events like this showcase the magic of creativity and community, and we’re thrilled to help make it a memorable experience for kids and families alike. Check out some of our photos from the event here.

New “Be Kind” Photo Spot in Shreveport! 💛

There’s a fun, interactive new photo spot in Shreveport worth checking out! Big letters spelling “BE KIND” (Actually YOU would be the ‘I’) have popped up near the fairgrounds, thanks to Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation. On the corner of Greenwood Rd. and Missouri Ave, this is a fun way of spreading positivity and giving folks a fun place to snap a picture with friends or family. While you’re there, make sure you stop by the State Fair of Louisiana, beginning Oct. 30th- Nov. 16th!

Ronald McDonald House Shreveport Celebrates Grand Opening! 🎉

Get ready to celebrate the grand opening of the new Ronald McDonald House in Shreveport this week! The ribbon-cutting takes place at 9100 Susan Drive, Tuesday Oct. 28 @ 10AM, marking a huge milestone for Northwest Louisiana families with seriously ill or injured children. So far, an incredible $11,473,213 has been raised to make this home away from home possible. Come out, show your support, and help welcome this beautiful new place of comfort and hope to our community!

✍🏼 Side Notes & City Talk

🎃 Pumpkin Shine on Line 2025 was a HIT! See some of our photos from the event!

👩🏽‍⚕️ Shreveport just made medical history with its first-ever endoscopic cranial vault surgery, a major breakthrough for infants. This innovative procedure puts the region on the map for cutting-edge pediatric care.

🏉 LSU is giving Brian Kelly the boot after a rough start to this season. Fans (and the new interim coach) are ready for a fresh start. We tried, Brian.

💦 Minden is getting a new 2-million-gallon water tank, and the best part? It won't cost residents a dime. The project is fully funded through a state capital outlay grant, with construction set to begin in December.

🍎 LA Gov. Jeff Landry extended food assistance benefits through November to help kids, seniors, and people with disabilities.
