February is a month that encourages showing love in every part of life, and one of the most meaningful expressions of love is giving back. This month, MSTV is asking for the community’s help in supporting local neighbors in need.

MSTV is collecting new, unopened canned foods, along with pasta, rice, cereal, and peanut butter. All donations will be delivered to local food banks to help individuals and families who simply need a meal.

With community support, this has the potential to become one of the largest donation drives in the area. The donation box is located outside the management office, and every contribution makes a difference.

Caddo Parish Work Program Returns

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office has reopened its Transitional Work Program facility after a nearly six-year closure, supported by a $2.3 million state investment to expand public safety and reentry efforts. The $1.6 million facility can house up to 160 participants, offering job training, work experience, and college courses to help reduce recidivism and overcrowding at the Caddo Correctional Center. Local leaders and law enforcement celebrated the reopening, with plans to strengthen correctional capacity statewide.

LSUS Debate Team Soars to State Victory

The LSU Shreveport Debate team won the Louisiana state title at the Southern Forensics Championship Tournament, emerging as the top Louisiana team among competitors from four states. The Pilots’ success included individual state championships for C.J. Longino in the professional division and Josephine Moore in the novice division, both also earning speaker awards. Coach Lindsay Duede, in her first season, was named tournament Coach of the Year and credited adaptability amid a remote format change.

SPAR Mardi Gras Ball Shines

The SPAR Therapeutic Mardi Gras Ball brought the community together for a night of music, dancing, and festive fun, all while honoring local members with disabilities. Guests enjoyed an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere where everyone could join in the Mardi Gras spirit, share laughter, and make lasting memories. The event highlighted the importance of connection and celebration, leaving attendees feeling seen, celebrated, and part of the community.

🎉 A local Haughton student earned a nomination for a prestigious national scholar competition- big cheers for academic achievement!

🌟 The 2026 Virginia K. Shehee Most Influential Woman and Young Woman honorees have been announced, with the awards ceremony set for East Ridge Country Club in March.
