Fundraising: In Progress

TOGETHER WITH

☀️SBC! In case you haven’t heard, we announced last week that we need your help.

Bad News: Nearly 1 in 6 Louisianans (including 249,000 kids) don’t know where their next meal is coming from. And that means too many of our neighbors are going hungry.

Good News: We can help. Join On the Bright Side Battle Squad for The Hub: Urban Ministry’s Great Food Fight. No donation is too small, and we are only halfway to our goal!

In this edition, we’ll shine light on:

  • ReNest Fest 2025 Overview

  • Bring a Friend Week is back!

  • Who’s in the music line up for the Revel

Let’s get our shine on! ☀️

Partnered with Renesting Project

This past weekend, the Renesting Project lit up the night with its annual ReNest Fest 2025, and what a celebration it was! The community showed up in full force, dressed in dazzling disco-themed attire that sparkled almost as much as the disco ball above the dance floor. From the moment guests arrived, the energy was electric with good music, laughter, and plenty of dancing brought everyone together for a night to remember.

One of the highlights was the silent auction, which featured an incredible lineup of items and experiences donated by generous supporters. Every bid, every laugh, and every dance move reminded us of why this event matters: it’s all about coming together to support the Renesting Project’s mission. All proceeds benefit the Renesting Project, helping furnish homes for veterans, foster youth, and families recovering from crisis in Northwest Louisiana.

Take a look at some of my favorite photos of the night!

We love nonprofits! Send us one you want to see here!

From 9/29-10/5, No Ceilings CrossFit is inviting the community to bring a friend to work out for free. Starting a fitness journey can feel intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. At No Ceilings, the focus is on community, encouragement, and showing up just as you are. Bring a Friend Week is the perfect chance to finally get back in the gym and find a new, no-pressure vibe that makes every workout better. Share the experience with your bestie and come see how fitness feels when the ceiling is limitless.

Submit your business for others to see.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office just welcomed 15 new deputies to the team! Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr. led the swearing-in ceremony last week, adding fresh faces to roles in corrections, nursing, clerical, and more. It’s always exciting to see new people stepping up to serve our community, and the CPSO is still on the lookout for more recruits. If you know someone 21 or older who’s interested, they can check out openings at caddosheriff.org.

Debra Roberson Honored with 2025 Scott Griffin Award

Community Foundation of North Louisiana has announced Debra Roberson as the 2025 Scott Griffin Award recipient. CHRISTUS Health Invests in Community Care

Good news for our community: CHRISTUS Health just awarded over $305,000 in grants to six local nonprofits! The support will boost programs that focus on everything from mental health and chronic disease support to safe housing and food access. Groups like the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, Shreveport Green, and St. Luke’s Mobile Medical Ministry are among the recipients. It’s another big step toward making North Louisiana healthier, stronger, and more hopeful for everyone.
