(If you’d like to help sponsor this event please reply to this email!)

Stay tuned for more details… the magic is coming! 🎄

In this edition, we’ll shine light on:

  • Decorating your tree for a good local cause

  • Pajamas, hot chocolate, and paint coming your way!

  • Holy Christmas, there are so many events happening this week.

Let’s get our shine on!

Apotheworx is spreading Christmas cheer in more ways than one this season! They’re proudly serving as a drop-off location for The Christmas Project, benefiting The Center for Children and Families, Inc. If you’d like to brighten a child’s holiday, just bring a new, unwrapped gift for a child or teen receiving services through the Center. As a thank-you, Apotheworx is offering 20% off one item in the store (excluding prescriptions) to everyone who donates. It’s an easy, meaningful way to make the season a little brighter for a local family. ✨

And while you’re there, Apotheworx has the perfect stocking stuffer or a well-deserved treat for yourself. Their shower steamers are a customer favorite, available in scents that help with sleep, stress, energy, headaches, colds, and more. At just $4.99, they’re a small luxury that goes a long way. Simply place one on your shower floor, let it dissolve, and enjoy the calming vapors after a long day. A little peace, a little comfort, and a whole lot of holiday spirit!

☀️ This Week’s Happy Highlights

Honestly SBC, I am so proud of how many stories I’ve seen over the last week highlighting our community stepping up during Thanksgiving week to help one another. I’d need an additional newsletter just to mention all of the stories. These are a couple of MANY!

Shreveport Citizens United wrapped up its final resource rally of 2025 at the David Raines Community Center, and the MLK community showed up big. Families enjoyed a day filled with nonprofit resources, food, door prizes, face painting, and plenty of love. SPD Chief Wayne Smith even donated a full trailer of food, making sure no one left empty-handed. It was a warm, lively way to close out the year and support families right where they are. Follow SCU’s socials and visit the website for 2026 volunteer opportunities!

Caddo Fire District 4 teamed up with Louisiana Food Bank to deliver Thanksgiving meals to neighbors across the parish, helping about 250 households feel cared for and remembered this holiday. The fire-district crew greeted families, handed out food, and reminded folks that small acts of kindness bring big warmth to our community.

✍🏼 Side Notes & City Talk

🎉 Caddo Parish Magnet High School is now home to 13 semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program- the largest such group in the region.

🥲 A student at Walnut Hill High School delivered a speech that brought Caddo Parish School Board members to a stunned silence, sparking a powerful moment of honesty and reflection.

🎨 New murals are popping up around Shreveport, celebrating local history in bright, creative ways, thanks to local artist, KaDavien Baylor.

🚧 G-Unit is expanding its footprint in downtown Shreveport- new fencing is up for the site of what will become a permanent G‑Dome.

👨🏽‍🏫 NLTCC just wrapped up a new instructor prep series to help teachers sharpen their skills and better support students.
