Country Tavern is BACK!

TOGETHER WITH
☀️SBC! As we approach Veterans Day on November 11, we take a moment to recognize and thank the brave men and women who have served our country. Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice protect the freedoms we enjoy every day. From all of us at On the Bright Side, thank you for your service. 💜
In this edition, we’ll shine light on:
the Great Food Fight Final Results
Forgotten Angels Tree location
become a part of upgrading a local high school’s gym equipment
In Partnership with The Hub: Urban Ministry
The Great Food Fight wrapped up with an incredible outpouring of generosity from our community. Over the month of October and the grand finale over the weekend, the community raised an astounding $92,068 for The Hub to fight hunger and support restoration efforts across Shreveport. On the Bright Side was proud to be part of the action as a member of the OTBS Battle Squad, where we raised $1,234.38 to contribute to the total.
The event also featured Bingo (We won!) and an exciting food competition with local chefs! Congratulations to the winners:
1st Place: Pinoy BBQ
2nd Place: Amour Riviera
3rd Place: Roux Breakers
Every dollar raised means more stocked shelves, more warm meals, and more lives given hope. We are so grateful to everyone who donated, volunteered, or helped spread the word, your support truly makes a difference. Together, our community showed the power of compassion in action. 💜

☀️ This Week’s Happy Highlights
Forgotten Angels Tree Shines at Mall St. Vincent

The Forgotten Angels Tree is now shining bright at Mall St. Vincent near Piccadilly, inviting shoppers to spread Christmas cheer. Each tag on the tree represents a local child in need, giving visitors a chance to make their holiday wishes come true. Mayor Arceneaux, the Booker T. Washington Band, and community members helped kick off the event in style. Stop by this week to choose an angel and ensure no child goes without Christmas. 🎄💖
Building Hope in Shreveport
The Hyssop Care Foundation in Shreveport has launched a bold $2 million campaign to build 12 units of affordable housing called Grace Point Apartments, aimed at families experiencing homelessness. Led by Executive Director Alex T. Ray, the initiative focuses on long-term stability and community uplift, not just temporary shelter.
