TOGETHER WITH

☀️SBC! Is it just me, or do these kids get way more days off school than we ever did? 😄 Thanks to icy roads, school kids scored an unexpected additional winter break this past week. Leave it to Louisiana weather to keep everyone on their toes and off the streets.

Now that we’re back to being thawed out and social, we’ve got a question:

Where is your favorite local spot to listen to live music?

Login or Subscribe to participate in polls.

In this issue, we’ll shine light on:

  • Affordable medications brought to your door

  • A local determined to get to work- despite her car going up in flames?

  • It’s a perfect time to donate blood!

Let’s get our shine on!

If you’ve ever wished your pharmacy felt a little more personal, Apotheworx Pharmacy might be exactly what you’re looking for. This locally owned Shreveport pharmacy is focused on taking care of neighbors, not rushing people through a line. The pharmacists take time to answer questions, explain medications, and make sure you feel supported every step of the way.

One of the biggest perks is convenient delivery. Apotheworx offers medication delivery straight to your home, along with easy refills and flexible pickup options. It is a huge help for busy families, caregivers, and anyone who wants to skip one more errand in their day.

Their services go beyond prescriptions. Apotheworx also offers immunizations, wellness support, and even pet medications, all with the same thoughtful, personal care.

Supporting Apotheworx means supporting a local business that truly cares about its community. If convenience, kindness, and hometown service matter to you, this pharmacy is well worth a visit.

Special Feature: Faith & Fostering

Faith & Fostering is making a real difference in our community by supporting young adults aging out of foster care, facing housing instability, or working to overcome barriers to education and employment. Through housing assistance, job training, mentorship, and faith-based support, they help young people build stable and hopeful futures.

Recently, the organization celebrated three young men who began BPCC’s six-week EMPWR LA program. The program allows participants to earn industry-based certifications that lead to real career opportunities. One young man has already earned FOUR certifications. Special thanks to Program Director, Cynitria for connecting these young men to resources that help them grow, thrive, and create lasting change.

☀️ This Week’s Happy Highlights

Cafe USA Celebrates 24 Years and New Property Purchase

Cafe USA, a beloved locally owned cafe in South Bossier, recently celebrated its 24-year anniversary! After more than two decades of renting, the owners proudly purchased the property, securing a permanent home last week. Long-time customers, who feel like family, have been key to this milestone. Stop in, order a chicken fried steak, and tell them On the Bright Side sent you!

Love Your Heart: Affordable Screenings This February

Willis Knighton Health is offering special pricing in February for a coronary calcium scan during Heart Month, a quick (about 10 minutes), noninvasive test that helps detect calcium buildup in heart arteries and assess heart attack risk. The scan combines CT and EKG technology and will be available for a total cost of $50 ($25 for the procedure and $25 for the radiologist reading) at several local locations, by physician referral with limited appointments.

🔥 Wanda Bell’s Dedication on Fire… Literally! 🔥

Wanda’s car went up in flames on her way to work at Willis Knighton during the ice storm, yet she still made it in only 20 minutes late! Her coworkers have started a GoFundMe to help her get a new car and get back on the road. Show some love and help Wanda keep moving: donate here!

✍🏼 Side Notes & City Talk

🩸 Recent icy weather has caused Life Share donor center closures and canceled blood drives, putting a strain on local blood and platelet supplies right when hospitals need them most. If you’re able, take a minute this week to donate!

📢 Caddo Parish District Attorney James E. Stewart Sr. announced he’s seeking re‑election, noting his continued focus on justice, crime reduction, and community support.

‼️ If you’ve got a business interested in giving back to the community, please submit your contact info here. I’ve got an announcement coming up soon!
