Kicking It at LSUS: Layla Arendell Strikes Gold on the World Stage!

LSUS student Layla Arendell brought home two gold medals and a bronze from the 2025 International Taekwondo Federation Union World Championships in Buenos Aires. The 19-year-old business major from Shreveport won gold in sparring and board breaking and bronze in patterns. Layla says she focuses on skill over belt levels and already has her sights set on next year’s championships in Italy. What an incredible achievement!

Holy Angels Fundraising Event is This Week!

🎉 You’re invited to TASTE 2025, happening on November 6, 2025, at the Shreveport Convention Center! Enjoy an evening full of live music, delicious bites from 40+ local vendors, a bubbly champagne bar, silent auctions, and more while supporting the amazing work of Holy Angels. New Housing, New Opportunities in Shreveport

The groundbreaking for Fairfield Estates II, a new 55‑unit apartment complex at 1156 Wilkinson Street, happened this week. This development means more affordable, quality housing for local families and a boost for the community. Neighbors and city leaders came together to celebrate this exciting step, which will turn the site into a welcoming, vibrant place to live and continue the Housing Authority’s mission to create opportunities for residents across Shreveport.
